TOGETHER ALRIGHT

documentary

LOGLINE:

After graduating, Mary faces the biggest challenge of her life: “growing up” with ADHD. It’s an emotional roller coaster ride between constant chaos in her head, societal pressure to perform, and a longing for peace and quiet.

SYNOPSIS:

“Where do you see yourself in five years? I don’t even know where I’ll be tomorrow.”

For Mary, this standard job interview question is a total nightmare. Fresh out of college, she’s suddenly expected to fit into an optimized and structured work environment. But Mary has ADHD. It’s never quiet in her head: impressions, thoughts, and stimuli bombard her relentlessly and without filter. She finds moments of calm mainly outdoors in nature or, briefly, when smoking.

Living in a shared apartment with the director, an intimate and honest portrait emerges of Mary’s ADHD, of community, of “growing up,” and of the infectious zest for life that Mary radiates despite all the challenges. The film combines documentary observations with staged sequences that bring Mary’s inner perceptions to life and offer a direct glimpse into the reality of her life.

How does one find one’s place in this world amid societal pressure to perform and the desire to forge one’s own path?
